What's happening?

When you shop online using your PCU card, you may be prompted to confirm your purchase through our PCU mobile banking app.

What's different?

At the moment, when you make payments using your PCU card online, you may be prompted to verify your purchase with a code sent to your mobile phone. This is done via 3D Secure (3DS).

Soon, you may instead be prompted to confirm your purchase in the PCU mobile banking app.

You won't be prompted to confirm all purchases; it depends on the specific merchant (who you're buying from) and whether what you're paying for exceeds a certain dollar amount.

How it works:

When you use your debit card to make a purchase online, 3DS helps confirm it's really you making the payment.

It does this by sending a real-time check and asking you to verify yourself via an SMS code or a prompt in your PCU mobile banking app.

A: It's pretty quick and easy:

  1. You enter your card details at checkout
  2. The bank/card issuer evaluates the transaction
  3. You are prompted to confirm your identity via an SMS text or mobile banking prompt.
  4. Payment is approved or declined

Q: I tried to make a purchase but didn’t receive a push notification. Why?

A: Possible reasons include mobile network delays and bank system issues. You can contact us to check why this could’ve occurred.
