December update from our Chief Executive

30 Nov 2016

Some nations of the World appear to be moving further away from each other and becoming more inward focussed which is in complete contrast to the last 40-50 odd years where the nations have been getting closer both economically and politically. I think it will be an interesting next 4 years.

We all experienced the 7.8 earthquake that struck our country on Monday 14 November. Some of course, more than others. Our thoughts remain with those most impacted in Kaikoura, Culverden and the surrounding districts and in particular our members and their families who have been personally impacted and those members that have been working tirelessly in the aftermath.

And of course it’s that time of year again – Christmas madness! This year your Credit Union has again helped 1,998 members be financially prepared for Christmas with our Christmas Club account. These members between them saved over $1.8 million – at an average of just over $900 per member. We also rewarded 1,216 members with a $20 New World voucher and 9 members with a $10 New World voucher as they saved every month and did not touch their Christmas Club savings during the year.

I am delighted to confirm the Police and Families Credit Union Scholarship Programme that we launched in 2014 is available again this year. We want to award scholarships of up to $1,000 in January 2017 to 25 members. Scholarships are open to all members and potential members of our Credit Union. Full details of the scholarship programme can be found on page 3. Applications must reach us on or before Friday 13 January 2017.

Thanks to you all for your support during 2016. It has been a great year for your Credit Union and we are all geared up for a wonderful 2017. As always, if you have any feedback, please contact me direct on 04 471 4850 or email helen.hatchard@policecu.org.nz.

From us all at your Credit Union, we wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas break and a very happy New Year.

Take care
Helen
